What We Believe...
What We Believe...
We believe in the authority and sufficiency of the Holy Bible, consisting of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, and that every word was inspired by God (Psalm 12:6-7; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21; Isaiah 40:8; Matthew 5:18; 1 Corinthians 2:11-14; Revelation 22:18-19).
We believe that there is only one true and living God, an infinite and all-knowing Spirit (Genesis 1:1, 26; Exodus 15:11; Deuteronomy 6:4; Psalm 111:9; Isaiah 45:5-6).
We believe that God the Father is the first person of the Godhead (1 Chronicles 29:11; Ephesians 1:3-6, 11; Genesis 1:1-31; Exodus 4:22; 1 Peter 1:2-3. 5; Acts 17:26-29).
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is the second person of the Godhead (Isaiah 7:14, 9:6; Matthew 1:18-25, Luke 1:31-35; John 1:1-4; Acts 1:9-11; Philippians 2:5-11; Colossians 1:19; 1 Timothy 3:16).
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Godhead (Genesis 1:2; Matthew 1:18; 2 Peter 1:20-21; John 3:5-8; Acts 1:8; Romans 8:9; Ephesians 1:13; 1 Corinthians 2:11).
We believe the Genesis account of creation was factual and literal and accomplished in six ordinary days.
(Genesis 1:5, 8, 13, 19, 23, 26-27, 31; Exodus 20:11; Romans 1:19-20).
We believe in the existence of Satan, and although he was created as a holy angel, he became unholy when he sinned against God through pride (Isaiah 14:12-17; Ezekiel 28:12-19; John 8:44; 2 Corinthians 4:3-4; Hebrews 2:!4; Ephesians 2:2; Revelation 20:10; Genesis 3:15).
We believe that man was originally created in innocence with the freedom to choose to obey God, but by a voluntary choice, Adam and Eve sinned against God (Genesis 1:26-27, 2:7, 25-24, 3:1-19; Jeremiah 17:9; John 3:36; Ephesians 2:1-3; Romans 1:18-32).
We believe the salvation of sinners, described as the new birth (being born-again as a new creation in Christ Jesus), is wholly of God by His grace only through faith alone in the Lord Jesus Christ.(John 1:12-13, 3:3-8, 3:16, 10:27-31; Acts 4:12, 11:18; Romans 3:2, 4:5, 1 Corinthians 1:2, 1:30; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Galatians 2:16; Ephesians 1:3, 1:7; Philippians 3:9; Colossians 3:1-3, 1 Thessalonians 4:3-7; Titus 3:5).
We believe that there is a radical and essential difference between the righteous and the wicked. (Malachi 3:18; Genesis 18:23; Romans 6:17-18, 7:6; 1 John 5:19; Proverbs 14:32; Luke 16:19-21; Matthew 25:34-41; John 8:21).
We believe that the universal church is made up of all those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior from the time of Pentecost through the Rapture (Matthew 16:18; Acts 1:8, 2:1-13, 15:14; Ephesians 1:19-23, 3:21, 5:22-23).
We believe that civil government is of divine appointment for the interests and good order of human society (Romans 13:1-7, Exodus 18:21-22; Daniel 3:8-18; Matthew 22:21; Acts 4:18-20, 23:5; 1 Timothy 2:1-3).
We believe the Bible teaches only two ordinances. The first is Baptism in which the born-again believer is immersed under water and then raised back up again. The other ordinance is the Lord's Supper (Communion) in which the entire body of believers takes the bread and cup together. (Matthew 26:26-29)
We believe that physical death involves no loss of our consciousness (Revelation 9:6) but that there is a separation of soul and body (James 2:26).
We believe in the personal, bodily return of Jesus for His church before the seven-year tribulation (I Thessalonians 4:16, Titus 2:13, John 14:1-3).
We believe that immediately following the rapture, there will be a seven-year period of tribulation also known as Israel's seventieth week (Daniel 9:24-27, Matthew 24:15-31, 25:31-46).
We believe that after Jesus returns to earth, He will occupy the throne of David and establish his messianic kingdom for a thousand years (Revelation 20:1-7).
We believe that after his release, Satan will deceive the nations and gather them to battle against the saints and Jerusalem (Revelation 20:9).
We believe that following the judgment of the lost, God will destroy the heavens and earthwith fervent heat and create a new heaven and earth (2 Peter 3:13, Revelation 21:1-5).
We believe that God has ordained the family as the foundation institution of human society (Genesis 1:26-28, 2:18-24, Galatians 3:28, Ephesians 5:21-33).
We believe the husband is to be the leader of the home. He is to lead by loving his wife as Christ loves the church, by living with his wife in an understanding way, and by granting her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life. The man is also to provide for his family through hard work that is done with obedience, discipline, and excellence for the glory of God (Genesis 2:15-17, Ephesians 5:21-33, Colossians 3:19, 2 Thessalonians 3:7-12, 1 Timothy 5:8, 1 Peter 3:7).
The wife was designed to be the husband's helper, the bearer of children, and the keeper of the home. She is to submit herself with an attitude of respect to the Scriptural leadership of her husband as the church submits to the headship of Christ. The woman's primary sphere of ministry is the home, a highly exalted and joyous calling of God. However, this does not preclude women from engaging in outside activities or employment, provided that these outside interests do not compromise her ability and desire to fulfill her spiritual and domestic obligations (Genesis 1:28, 2:18-25, Psalm 113:9, Ephesians 5:21-33, Colossians 3:18, 1 Timothy 2:15, 5:9-12, Titus 2:3-5, 1 Peter 3:1-6).
Scripture also makes it clear that children are a heritage from the Lord. Parents are responsible for teaching their children spiritual and moral values (Exodus 20:12, Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Psalm 127:3-5, Proverbs 19:18, 22:15, 23:13-14, Ephesians 6:1-4, Colossians 3:20-21).
We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bi-sexaulity, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery and pornography are sinful perversions of God's gift of sex. We believe that the only legitimate marriage is the joining of one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24, Leviticus 18:1-30, Mark 10:1-2, Romans 1:26-29, 1 Corinthians 5:1, 6:9, 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8, Hebrews 13:4).
We believe that God disapproves of and forbids divorce. Divorce and remarriage is regarded as adultery except on the grounds of sexual immorality or if an unbelieving spouse divorces a believer (Malachi 2:14-17, Matthew 19:3-12, Romans 7:1-3, 1 Corinthians 7:12-16).
